BHU Admission 2026: BHU’s admission cycle for 2026-27 is already past the application stage and into the counselling-and-allotment phase — CUET-UG registration closed back on 26th February, the actual CUET-UG exam ran between 11th and 31st May, and PG seat allotment rounds are rolling out right through June (2nd round on 18th June, 3rd and 4th rounds on 22nd and 25th June). Getting into BHU isn’t a one-step form-fill the way it is at most state universities — there’s an entrance exam stage first, then a separate registration on BHU’s own portal for seat allotment. For UG, that means CUET-UG; for PG, it’s mostly CUET-PG, with some specific courses (MBA, medical PG, MTech) routed through CAT, NEET-PG, or GATE instead.

CUET-UG 2026 registration is already closed (it shut on 26th February) for BHU Admission 2026, and the exam itself ran from 11th to 31st May. If you appeared, the next step is registering separately on BHU’s CAP-UG 2026 portal — appearing for CUET doesn’t automatically get you considered, you still need that second registration.

PG admission follows a similar two-step pattern in  BHU Admission 2026 through CAP-PG 2026, and right now multiple allotment rounds are active — round 2 results came on 18th June, with rounds 3 and 4 scheduled for 22nd and 25th June. If you’re a PG applicant, this is the stage to be checking your allotment status closely, not the application stage.

UG Admission 2026

Most UG courses — BA, BSc, BCom, BFA, BPA — go through CUET-UG, except a few specific ones. B.Tech at IIT-BHU needs JEE Main/Advanced instead, B.Ed and BA-B.Ed routes need the UP B.Ed test or NCET, and medical courses under IMS-BHU go entirely by NEET-UG. Since the CUET-UG exam window has closed for this cycle, anyone who missed registering will likely need to wait for the next admission cycle for BHU Admission unless BHU opens a late round.

PG Admission 2026

MA, MSc, MCom, and most other PG courses run on CUET-PG scores (conducted by NTA between 6th and 27th March this year), followed by BHU’s own CAP-PG counselling. MTech and MD/MS/MPharm courses follow GATE and NEET-PG/MCC counselling tracks respectively, separate from the regular CUET-PG route.

MBA and Diploma/Certificate Courses

BHU’s MBA, run through the Institute of Management Studies (IMS-BHU), works completely differently from the rest of the university — it needs a valid CAT score, doesn’t accept CUET-PG at all, and has its own separate application window (usually October to January) plus a Group Discussion and Personal Interview round counting for 30% of selection. Diploma and certificate courses, by contrast, are simpler — generally 10+2 with 50% marks gets you in, no entrance test involved for most of these.

BHU Admission 2026 Eligibility Criteria

For UG courses, you need a 10+2 pass with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) from a recognised board, and you must have appeared for CUET-UG in the relevant subject combination for your chosen course — this part trips up a lot of applicants who pick the wrong CUET paper codes. B.Tech needs Physics-Chemistry-Maths with a valid JEE score instead, and medical courses need NEET-UG.

PG admission needs a bachelor’s degree with around 50% aggregate (45% for SC/ST), plus a valid CUET-PG score in the right subject paper, for most courses. Step 1 — Read the relevant Information Bulletin (UGIB for UG, the PG brochure for postgraduate courses) on bhu.ac.in or admission.bhu.ac.in to confirm your course’s exact CUET paper code, eligibility, and seat matrix.

Step 2 — Register and appear for the correct entrance exam — CUET-UG, CUET-PG, JEE, NEET, CAT, or whichever applies to your course — through the respective national testing body’s portal. Tip: BHU does not accept CUET-UG/PG scores submitted late or from the wrong subject paper, so triple-check your paper code selection at the NTA registration stage itself.

Step 3 — After your results are out, register separately on BHU’s own admission portal @admission.bhu.ac.in for CAP-UG 2026 or CAP-PG 2026, as relevant. This is a distinct step from your entrance exam registration.

Step 4 — Fill in your programme and campus location preferences — main Varanasi campus, Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Rajiv Gandhi South Campus, or other constituent colleges, depending on what’s offered for your course. Tip: List more preferences rather than fewer. A narrow preference list can mean missing out on a seat that would’ve come through in a later round.
